Whats New at the ShadeTree

A few Irons in the Fire

Handy WorkThe economy has taken a nosedive and it looks like my job could end any day. (the job situation has improved) Time to get some of those pots off the back burner and turn the heat up.

I actually do have some pots I need to turn the heat up on.... some pottery from the wheel that needs firing.

Propane has become so expensive that I've not done very much glasswork in a while. I visited a glass studio near Spruce Pine in North Carolina that runs off landfill gas.

I'm going to start promoting the idea of building a glass studio at the public landfill in Wellford, South Carolina. It would be very close to quite a few high schools and colleges in the Upstate.

2008 SuperGlide
Sold the boat and got this bike.... its a great ride.... and the name fits... touted as one of the better all around handling of the Harleys.... easy to drag the pegs after riding the GSXR 1000 for the past couple of years. Both can put a big smile on my face... just for different reasons. The GSXR can put the fear of God in you pretty quick.... they are insanely fast.

A new Trike at the ShadeTree

TrikesFinally got around to getting a recumbent trike that I started some time ago to the rolling stage. It has Velocity rims and disc brake hubs and Avid disc brakes. The crankset and rearend with suspension are off a full suspension mountain bike. Huge difference in gearing between it and my Catrike.

Pirate Adventure comes to an end

Bought a sailboat about a year ago on Ebay site unseen. It turned out to be a pretty good deal. Its a Hunter 27 and is currently tied up at Carolina Beach and being made ready for a little piracy on the not so high seas.

A new pirate season is upon us and currently recruiting pirate crew so if you have any pirate blood in you... sure would love to hear from you.

Back on the water at Carolina Beach also called the Redneck Riviera by the Crusties in Wilmington. Obviously they've never been to Myrtle Beach.

You just can't get good pirate crew anymore.... that coupled with the fact that my job schedule has not permitted very many pirate expeditions this year has led me on to other adventures. Specifically sold the boat that I never named but was thinking of calling Nine Lives... for it... like me... had more than a few close encounters. But that's another story.
